#ManCrushMonday: Nicholas Hoult

About a boy

#ManCrushMonday: Nicholas Hoult
Nicholas Hoult has grown up before our eyes. And man has he done a good job of it

Nicholas Hoult first made his film debut at the tender age of 7, but it wasn't until he played the titular character in About a Boy in 2002 that audiences took notice of his then impish (if somewhat unusual) looks. So imagine our surprise when he popped up in Tom Ford's directorial debut A Single Man in 2009 as the semi-stalkerish Kenny Potter, looking drop-dead gorgeous in a fluffy angora sweater.

Since then Hoult has parlayed his scene-stealing charm (and stunning baby blues) into several leading and supporting roles, along with being the on-off squeeze of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence. Thus far he's impressed in Mad Max: Fury Road and as Hank McCoy in the X-Men franchise, proving he's got action chops as well. Next up for the young actor, is a starring role in Equals opposite Kristen Stewart, which was partially shot in Singapore.

But perhaps his biggest challenge to date is taking on the role of reclusive author J.D Salinger in the Danny Strong-directed Rebel in the Rye. While the physical resemblance might not be there —  Hoult is after all 1.9m of pure British hunkiness — we've seen him downplay his looks before for character parts and he's been nothing short of revelatory. We can hardly wait.
