Here's how Monique Lhuillier’s starring in Fifty Shades Freed
Dressing in blessings
This Valentine's Day, wedding bells are ringing in the third instalment of the Fifty Shades trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed. It all started in 2015 with a purely coincidental interview between a naïve literature student and an enigmatic tycoon that made one too many housewives hot and bothered. Despite the tumultuous route their relationship took, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey have returned as the picture of domesticity in the climactic final saga.
Crafting a wedding gown isn't an easy feat, especially for the submissive wife of the most eligible dominant in E.L. James' world. However, renowned bridal designer Monique Lhuillier has gone against all odds, brilliantly capturing Steele's alluring beauty and vulnerability in this iconic design.
Known for seizing both tradition and trendy in her creations, Lhuillier weaved together an enchanting and whimsical piece that evoked both sensuous and modern elements. The gown worn during the newly-weds' "I do" moment exudes feminity and sophistication — something distinctly Monique Lhuillier. This isn't the first time Lhuillier's work appeared on the Fifty Shades trilogy. A Lhuillier creation was also previously showcased on the second instalment, Fifty Shades Darker, where Steele wore a feathered cape over the sultry satin sheath number for the film's masquerade ball.
Besides contributing two luxurious pieces to the Fifty Shades trilogy, Lhuillier was also the one who clothed Britney Spears on her wedding day in 2004. Encompassing romantic glamour and modern elegance in every design, it's of no wonder that Lhuillier boasts an A-list clientele which includes Emma Stone, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and Kristen Bell.
In the spirit of all things lovey-dovey, here are five iconic wedding gowns that have made it down the aisle in our all-time favourite fictional fairytales.
Fifty Shades Freed opens in theatres on 8 February.
