Coming to AppleTV+ in February, March, and April: Steven Spielberg's "Amazing Stories", Chris Evans in "Defending Jacob", and more
Streaming soon
By now, you should be all caught up with Apple TV+'s biggest hit thus far, The Morning Show, in which America's sweetheart Jennifer Aniston snatched our wigs with a SAG Award-worthy performance. In the next few months, the streaming service will release a whole range of titles that are worth bookmarking right now. Here's what we know so far.
Amazing Stories
A reboot of visionary filmmaker Steven Spielberg's 1985 television show, the anthology series contains all the trappings of a typical Speilbergian production: sci-fi, fantasy, and an unrivalled sense of storytelling. This time, look forward to a whole host of talented directors behind the lens: Chris Long (The Americans and The Mentalist), Mark Mylod (Succession and Game of Thrones).
Amazing Stories will make its global debut on 6 March.
Defending Jacob
Based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by William Landay, this thriller stars Captain America himself, actor Chris Evans, alongside Michelle Dockery. Evan plays an assistant district attorney who caught in a hard place when his young son becomes the suspect of a shocking murder crime.
"Defending Jacob" will premiere its first three episodes on 24 April, and new episodes will premiere weekly thereafter every Friday.
Home Before Dark
Starring Jim Sturgess and The Florida Project's breakout star Brooklynn Prince, this mystery drama is inspired by a true story of a nine-year-old journalist who reports a murder. You know it's going to be good when the show has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere.
"Home Before Dark" will premiere its first three episodes on April 3, and new episodes will premiere weekly thereafter every Friday.
Central Park
Created by the masterminds behind Bob's Burgers and Frozen, this animated musical comedy follows the lives of a family living in New York City's most iconic park. The show was under scrutiny for casting male actors for female voices. Nevertheless, it'll be interesting to see outstanding actors such as Leslie Odom, Jr., Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, and Stanley Tucci take on voiceover roles in kid-friendly animations.
Central Park is set to debut in early summer 2020.
Home
AppleTV+'s new documentary series will take audiences inside the most innovative and beautiful homes around the world. The first season will consist of nine episodes, featuring homes in locations as diverse as Sweden and Bali.
Home premieres on 17 April.
Trying
This British comedy series marks AppleTV+'s first foray into UK television. Eight half-hour episodes revolve around a young couple who's yearning for a child that they can't seem to have.
Trying will premiere on 1 May.
Dear...
Produced by R.J. Cutler and inspired by "Dear Apple" spots — where users thank Apple for their innovative products — this 10-episode documentary series spotlights the impact of internationally recognised leaders such as Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee, Stevie Wonder, and many more through letters written by ordinary folks whose lives have been changed foreverl.
Dear... premieres on 5 June.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet
This AppleTV+ series has been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere. The live-action comedy follows a team of fictional video game developers as they navigate the difficulties of running a video game.
