Getting to know Yu Tsai, fashion photographer and creative director of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 4
1. He was born in Taiwan, but moved to America. As a young child, his family moved from Taiwan to a farm in Indiana, and then on to California when Yu Tsai was a teenager. Speaking of the move, he's lamented before that "the traditional Chinese and Taiwanese school system it doesn't work. When I came to America, my awkwardness turned into pure creativity. That is when I really bloomed and blossomed."
2. He's a formally-trained wildlife field biologist. That's right. Before he snapped the likes of Keira Knightley, Alessandra Ambrosio and Kate Upton, Yu Tsai earned a bachelor's degree in biology and wildlife zoology, and began to work as a scientist. After being asked to sketch animals for a study, he ventured into photo illustration and design, which led him to a scholarship at a design college.
3. His all-time favourite film is Blade Runner. Notably, the director's cut. In an interview, the photographer gushed at how the methodology of story telling, visual journey, and attention to detail made him fall in love with cinema.
