After collaborating with the likes of Chance the Rapper and Lana Del Rey, retail giant H&M has tapped into the swagger and street cred of Abel Tesfaye, whom you know better as The Weeknd. Ahead of the Canadian musician's performance with Daft Punk at the Grammys on 12 February, this fashion and music collaboration couldn't come at a better time.
The 27-year-old has created a capsule collection of 25 pieces composed of laid-back sweats and hoodies as well as tailored shirts and blazers. With streetwear's popularity of late (seen those Louis Vuitton and Supreme phone covers?), the Spring Icons Selected By The Weeknd form a contemporary menswear masterclass in this generation's penchant for relaxed formalities. Think: A sharp blazer with a pair of drawstring trousers for the office and a bomber jacket and tailored trousers for the weekend.
While his album just missed the cut-off date for submissions to be considered, you can still spot Tesfaye (who already has two Grammys to his name) as he performs his hit, Starboy, with French electronic outfit Daft Punk. On a personal front, he's on the paparazzi's prowl after an end to his relationship with model Bella Hadid, his Victoria's Secret performance and the promise of a new squeeze. With rumours swirling that Tesfaye and fellow musician Selena Gomez might be attending the Grammys together, we can only hope for an electrifying collaboration next — and possibly, a new name we can call them. 'Selenasfaye', anyone?
