With three movie releases under her belt this month, Rose Byrne is May’s reigning box office queen. Here are five things you probably don’t know about this scene-stealer

1.    She was born and bred an Australian

Byrne's just that impressive with her American accent (think high-strung Helen Harris III in
Bridesmaids). She even admitted in one of her interviews that she actually felt more comfortable working with an American accent to help her get into character. When her role in Bad Neighbours required her native Australian cadence to shine through, she initially thought it was a joke.

2.   She is a real and reel time new mother

Nobody would have noticed that Byrne had recently given birth when she stepped out at the Met Gala in cascading Ralph Lauren a week ago. Accompanied by her long-time partner, Bobby Cannavale, she gave birth three months ago to a boy named Rocco. Her reel-time character in 2014's
Bad Neighbours and its upcoming sequel Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising see herself struggling t0 become a good mother for her newborn baby as well. The only difference is, she does so nestled between loud sorority parties happening next door. "I can relate to how long it takes to leave the house. All that stuff. Bring this, bring that. I forgot this, I forgot that. Don't wake her, he's awake," she mused in a recent interview on how she she's holding up in motherhood.

3.   She's reprising her role as Moira MacTaggert in
X-Men: Apocalypse

She may have missed out on all the time-travel shenanigans of last year's
X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Byrne's CIA agent Moira MacTaggert is returning to the School For Gifted Youngsters in the blockbuster sequel. Although she won't be attending the school, she'll probably drop by at some point to check in on the new, younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops. And of course, to be finally back in Professor X's arms.

4.   She's this month's box office queen

The first time we saw her serious comedy chops was five years ago in Get Him to the Greek, where she starred opposite Russell Brand as his promiscuous girlfriend. She's now the unlikely comedic choice, recently in Spy. This month alone, the Aussie's staring in two: Indie romcom The Meddler, in which she plays alongside Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon and J.K. Simmons; as well as reprising her foul-mouthed role as Kelly alongside her husband, Mac (played by Seth Rogen) in Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising.

5.   She does a crazy splendid impression of a Kookaburra call

During her latest trip to Sydney, Byrne's partner had a comical first encounter with the Australian terrestrial tree kingfishers who emanate loud calls in the break of dawn. The actress relived the hilarious moment in a talkshow by imitating the ear-piercing call. She sure isn't your typical girl next door.
