Fresh-faced Noah Centineo is TV's latest thirst trap as the Internet goes wild with viral GIFs and memes

Starring opposite Lana Condor in Netflix's new teen rom-com sensation To All The Boys I've Loved Before, the Internet's new boyfriend Noah Centineo plays every millennial's wet dream, Peter Kavinsky: popular, tousled hair, laid-back, sensitive and openly appreciative of female intelligence. You might have already caught the film, but here are a few things about the rising star that might be surprising.

Noah Centineo improvised that iconic back pocket spin.

It is by far one of the most talked-about scene in the film; Kavinsky spins Lara Jean in the cafeteria with his hand in the back pocket of her tight denim. Funnily enough, Centineo's suave move was not scripted and was improvised entirely during rehearsal. "The spin in the back pocket was Noah. He did it in the rehearsal and I was like, 'That is beautiful, we're going to change the shot around!' He's a natural flirt so he knew what he was doing", director Susan Johnson revealed. His adoring fans have taken to social media to gush after hearing this revelation, often in all-caps and crying GIFs.

Centineo has more in common with his character Peter Kavinsky than meets the eye.

Onscreen, Centineo plays a friendly jock that is aptly referred to as the "James Dean" of the high school. In Centineo’s own high school experience, he played soccer but dropped out in his sophomore year to pursue his acting career. When asked about whether he can relate to his character, Centineo admits, “I can relate to him because he was going through some stuff with his parents, and because of that, he had this outer shell. He’s a sensitive character. I’d like to think of myself as the same. Although, I don’t think I’m as abrasive as Peter Kavinsky!”

Centineo is sceptical of Instagram's picture-perfect lies

His Instagram, @ncentineo, is a balance of smiley selfies and happy-go-lucky outdoor shots with a few pensive posts thrown into the mix. While he is aware that his profile is becoming more of a brand-building exercise than a personal entity, he wants to be forthcoming with his fans about how he's feeling. “We’ve been given the full spectrum of emotions for good reason, and it helps us be happy in my opinion. I think it’s totally normal to be sad, or angry, or frustrated, hopeless at moments. I don’t think we would’ve been given these things if they were bad.”

Noah Centineo is more of a bookworm than a jock.

Co-star Lana Candor revealed that he was seen reading in between takes, ironically showing a greater resemblance to Lara Jean's character in this aspect than his own. Furthermore, Centineo has revealed that his first date involved a book swap where he gave her The Celestine Prophecy and she gave him You Are The One by Kute Blackson, and they "read for like three hours".
