The heart of the Silk Route is now in KalaPata's latest collection
East meets west
Where in the world is Samarkand? A quick Google search will reveal its facts — a town founded in the 7th century BC — and unveil the wealth of beautiful mosques and structures which populate the area. A city in Uzbekistan, the UNESCO World Heritage-stamped locale was a central position on the Silk Road between China and the West. The world's cultures melted in this very pot — and it's this exchange of ideas, design and art that inspired KalaPata's latest range of gold and silver-trimmed lacquer boxes and trays.
KalaPata's Samarkand collection is available at the Buro Pop-up in Scotts Square.
