Colour me pretty
Crochet bikinis were raved about at Tommy Hilfiger's recent Spring 2016 women's showcase, and for the better — flirty, textured and spirited, they nodded to better things to come: Summer and its iridescent colours associated the season.
But moving on from bikinis, apparel and accessories, crochet can be your home's answer to year-round Summer splendour. These intricately woven pieces are great additions to a space that needs sprucing up or dressing down. Bright pieces in single colours add extra flair to an already well-lit setting, while plum hues in numerous shades make a sombre-tinged space just a tad more casual.
The answer to crochet chic? Paola Lenti. The Italian's eponymous brand specialises in indoor and outdoor furniture, and it's the duality and mobility of her pieces that make her a favourite for creative and adaptable homeowners. Innovation has a consistent factor since her debut collection of rugs in 1995, with Aquatech and Cabanne being two standout materials. The former's a durable, synthetic yarn that's similar to straw, while the latter's a modular structure made of wood and steel.
New to DREAM, Paola Lenti's crochet rugs are our favourite. Aligning with the duality of her products, they can be used on the ground or hung as an artpiece. Handmade with a rope round braid, the flowers and leaves are hand crocheted and sewn to a synthetic support area, ensuring that quality is never compromised in the name of style. Aladdin doesn't have anything on these babies.
Available at DREAM SHOWROOM, 456 River Valley Road.
