See Finn Wittrock in Interpol's new music video, 'If You Really Love Nothing'
When Interpol returned with their sixth full-length record, they did it with the help of some fashionable friends, both in music and on screen. Marauder arrived four years after the post-punk's band's last release, El Pintor. A fairly autobiographical record from band mates Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino, Marauder roped in external producer Dave Fridmann, the man who was responsible for taking bands such as Tame Impala and Flaming Lips to the next level.
Another duo they've invited to be part of their sonic journey is none other than actors Finn Wittrock and Kristen Stewart. Starring in the music video of 'If You Really Love Nothing', the duo colours Interpol's third single off Marauder with an intoxicating romance. The video romanticises a heady night out in Los Angeles, the sort that involves bathroom hook-ups, girl on girl action, kitchen ambushes and carjacking. Directed by Bahraini director Hala Matar, Interpol's Banks sings pokerfaced into the camera, still adopting their signature broodiness fans have come to know and love.
We're enjoying Wittrock's foray into music video territory, after seeing the 33-year-old in flicks such as La La Land and television series American Horror Story and recently, The Assassination of Gianni Versace, where the Emmy-nominated actor played Jeff Trail, one of the victims murdered by a serial killer.
Meanwhile, 'If You Really Love Nothing's an infectious number and a great opener to Marauder, a record whose songs will come to life as Interpol headlines Neon Lights this November.
