Catch Singapore's Zig Zach and CATS ON CRACK at Epizode, a house & techno festival in Vietnam
Wonderfruit who? While it seemed that every other Instagram influencer and their squad descended upon Thailand's Pattaya district to take selfies against the sunset at what's deemed as "Asia's Burning Man", we have our sights set on something much more underrated. Enter Epizode, an 11-day music and arts extravaganza that leans towards the house and techno crowd, held at Phu Quoc, an island in South Vietnam.
Organised by Sagrado Corp and Nikita Marshunok, the name behind events such as Crimean dance festival, Kazantip, Epizode brings the biggest names and up and coming talents in house, techno and sick electronic music to the Southeast Asian crowd — with a healthy dose of Russians and Ukrainians in the mix, too. With an initial lineup that boasts names such as Carl Cox, Dubfire, Dixon, Loco Dice and Ame, they've also recently introduced an Asia Stage, a great addition to their HYTE stage, which happens to be the Berlin-based brand's debut in Asia. You can expect a world-class dance music experience, akin to those in Amnesia in Ibiza.
We're stoked for some Singapore representation, of course. DJ Zig Zach and CATS ON CRACK — who both happen to be in our feature on Singapore creatives — are playing the Asia stage on 2 January and 7 January respectively, alongside other nightlife change-makers in the region: Hibiya Line, founder of Ho Chi Minh's The Observatory, Ouissam, founder of Hong Kong's Cliché Collective and Alam, a partner of Kuala Lumpur's Ohrwurm. Girl power's alive and well too, with favourites such as Nicole Moudaber, Peggy Gou and Nakadia.
With Phu Quoc as a dream-like, non-seedy tropical backdrop to end this year and welcome the next, Epizode's one for the discerning festival-goer.
Epizode takes place from 31 December to 10 January at Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Tickets here.
