Dua Lipa in Singapore: Where she went, who she met and what she sang
#WomanCrushWednesday
We've set our sights on Dua Lipa even before her collaboration with makeup gurus M.A.C. Cosmetics. The English singer of Albanian descent was in town on 8 May for an exclusive showcase — her first in Asia. While she's visited Bali on holiday before, Singapore marks her Asian debut performance as a singer.
Playing at JW Marriott Singapore, her five-track set included early and recent hits such as 'New Love' and 'Lost In Your Light' (a duet with American R&B singer Miguel). Backed by a guitarist, the 21-year-old charmed her fans with an acoustic take on each song. Showing off her vocal chops, Lipa also shared her musical influences — Pink and Nelly Furtado — and story behind her love for singing. The emerging pop starlet will debut her first album on 2 June.
While in town, Lipa went through the typical tourist trail, spending the day at Gardens by the Bay, visiting a Hindu temple, trying out local snacks and ending the night at CÉ LA VI for what's arguably Singapore's best view.
