If you love Call Me By Your Name, you need to get this special book
If you haven't read André Aciman's Call Me By Your Name after watching the film adaptation, we suggest you set your sights on this special edition by e-retailer YOOX. Nominated for four Academy Awards this year (Best picture, best actor in a leading role, best adapted screenplay and best original song), Call Me By Your Name's been on our radar ever since its trailer premiere in August, followed by a screening at the Singapore International Film Festival last November.
First published in 2007, producers Peter Spears and Howard Rosenman bought the screen rights to Aciman's novel even before it was published, after seeing just a preliminary version of it. Whether you prefer the film to the novel, the American author's pleased with its cinematic treatment, directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by James Ivory. Sufjan Steven's song, 'Mystery of Love', also left a lasting, lingering impression. "The ending captured the very spirit of the novel I had written in ways that I could never have imagined or anticipated," said Aciman in an interview. "As for the music, it resonated with the love of the two young men."
YOOX's limited paperback edition of the novel comes in a hard slipcase, accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, as well as postcards from iconic scenes in the film. The brand recently celebrated Guadagnino's film in a dinner party in Milan, together with YOOX founder Federico Marchetti. Here's hoping the film comes back from the Oscars with something shiny to remember it by — not that its passionate scenes between leads Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer haven't done so already.
