If you're in the market for a foldable bike, you would have undoubtedly considered a Brompton. The English company has been handmaking and refining its singular product since 1975. Highly customisable, easily reassembled and folding to a third of its size, it's commuter-friendly and ideal for small apartment dwelling. This flexibility might explain the popularity of the bike across Asia's densely populated cities, which over the last 20 years has grown to account for over a third of Brompton's total sales worldwide.

This loyal and growing fanbase has not gone unnoticed has resulted in Brompton releasing a special limited run of 1000 bikes exclusively for Asia, with just 80 available in Singapore. Launched as part of the festive Lunar New Year celebrations, the 20th-anniversary edition comes with a golden lacquered frame and a golden toolkit because really, what other colour better communicates luxury, prosperity and tidings of the season? Fortunately, it's saved from being overtly flashy by its contrasting black gloss components, which include the handlebar (both M or H options are available), stem, seat post and 16" wheels, as well as a handcrafted leather black Brooks B17 saddle for comfort. In addition, the 6-speed L-type bicycle features a customised, numbered serial plate, decal and an owner's certificate.

With its "gold status", additional frills and limited run, this iconic bike is bound to become a sought-after collectible.

Priced at $3,215, the new '20 years in asia' gold edition is available through official Brompton dealers B-spokes, Happy Owl Cycle or 808 Cycles and for pre-order online.
