A design gift guide (that's not red and white) for the true-blue Singaporean

Happy 51st birthday

Because sometimes wearing red and white doesn't quite cut it. Here are five proudly local gifts that keep on giving — after all, you're part of Singapore's success, too

1. If your idea of home is where the river always flows...
You'd want Supermama's latest collection of porcelain plates, launching tomorrow. The Singapore Architecture Porcelain collection includes five plates, featuring icons such as Marina Bay Sands, ArtScience Museum, Gardens by the Bay and the Esplanade Theatres.

2. If you're a proud Eastsider...

Show your love for the East — because lets face it, us Eastsiders share a bond — with this vintage-style poster by eck&art design studio. What can you see on a clear day at the east side? The soaring skyline, a few planes here and there and the ships out at sea. Non-"Easties" shouldn't be left out — the design studio has other posters featuring Bukit Timah and Orchard as well.

3. If you enjoy the drama in the details...
Study the intimate portrait of CHIJMES Singapore, illustrated by British architectural artist Stephen Wiltshire. After an hour-long helicopter ride in Singapore, the artist spent five days drawing a massive four-metre-long canvas in public at Paragon. Now, K+ has invited Wiltshire to draw something you can actually bring home this time.

4. If you're not yet off your rocker...
Relive your childhood with this rocking horse, which can be used as a functional piece for the little ones or a decorative element in your space. Furniture makers Hinika has reimagined the larger-than-life structures and characters from old-school HDB playgrounds of yesterday into this solid wood frame.
