Check out Christopher Kane's new collection of... rugs
Christopher Kane's last showing on the Fall/Winter 2018 runway in London sat well with critics who enjoyed the Scottish designer's burst of spontaneity and sexual liberation. If you've always had an affinity with Kane's chic eye on cuts and silhouettes, you're going to want in on his latest collaboration with The Rug Company. Yes, the designer's signature is now stamped onto a collection of five rugs and a cushion. Descending from a long line of fashion-forward collaborators such as Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Elie Saab, London-based textile mavens The Rug Company has tapped into Kane as their latest partner.
Combining inspirations from Kane's past collections, you'll be pleased to notice a motif or picture that has transformed into something that's frankly, more permanent. You spend more time on a rug than you will in a seasonal piece of clothing, so what better way to pledge loyalty to Kane than with a shaggy number? Handcrafted in Kathmandu using hand-knotted Tibetan wool and silk, the rugs reveal Kane's botanical fashion collection, taking the traditional floral motif to the next level in pale blush and blue numbers. Paying homage to Kane's Scottish heritage, other rugs feature an element of Mackintosh chairs in the famous Willow Tearooms in Glasgow in a design that's informed by the Constructivism movement.
