A design tour of Andaz Singapore

Andaz Singapore's interior designer Andre Fu of AFSO gives us the lowdown on the hotel's relaxed luxury and how the soul of the shophouse has been integrated

You can tell a lot about what a hotel guest needs from what she or he reads. For someone who's checked in at the new boutique-inspired lifestyle hotel Andaz Singapore, designer Andre Fu has displayed choice tomes: The Monocle Guide to Better Living, Margiela: The Hermès Years, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors and artsy reads about Banksy and Basquiat. Over the course of our design tour led by the Hong Kong-born, Cambridge arts and architecture graduate, we learned that an Andaz Singapore guest is a well-travelled individual with a passion for art, a need for social spaces and an appreciation of heritage.

"We have a fairly modern, urban approach because it reflects the way of life we lead today," said Fu on the spaces he's weaved throughout the hotel. "The key is to have something that connects to the contemporary traveller these days as well as the local community."

The designer behind the public spaces of The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore returns to our island with his brand of relaxed luxury. Take our virtual tour above.
