London Fashion Week is breaking away from its usual schedule — a move that it undertook since the pandemic hit in 2020 — and is combining both menswear and womenswear showings for the autumn/winter 2021 season.
And a brand that’s also breaking away from the norm is Burberry. The quintessentially British luxury brand is set to present a solo menswear collection for the first time in almost five years. Burberry has been showing co-ed runway collections since it first decided to embark on the industry-shifting see-now-buy-now model back in 2016.
Why chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci has decided to present a separate menswear collection (especially when more brands have moved towards co-ed shows) is perhaps a bit puzzling. But then again, Burberry has kept things surrounding the presentation and collection rather quiet this time around. There’s been no releases on any collaborators on the project nor do we have any idea of how the collection will be presented for autumn/winter 2021.
What we do know is that the collection is set to be a continuation to spring/summer 2021’s exploration and embrace of the outdoors. And to mark the occasion, fashion insiders and editors have been given a foldable outdoor chair each.
