As I write this, I am on day three of my self-imposed quarantine. Maybe I'm gunning for a plaque declaring me most socially responsible citizen of the month (jk), or maybe I'm just getting a head start on this whole working-from-home business — either way, I'd like to think that I'm now well-acclimated to LAC: Life Amidst Coronavirus.

Here's what you're likely to experience once circuit breaker measures kick in tomorrow. You'll clean your abode; whip up a dalgona coffee or two; and for those with superior willpower, livestream — and execute — a workout. Once all that's done-and-dusted, you'll begin evaluating aspects of your life in need of improvement. I pondered my dating options (non-existent), my lackadaisical attitude when it comes to proper nutrition (sigh), and eventually landed on my self-care routine. Or, to be more specific, my erratic, unpredictable beauty regimen so often impacted by time constraints. Now that it's a non-issue, though, I've opted to craft an ideal — and extensive — system to better my health, body, and complexion. Here's what I got, so far.

Act + Acre Cold Processed Scalp Detox

I was introduced to this vegan, cruelty-free, and environmentally-friendly haircare brand way back when the OG Buro. Beauty Club members reviewed its entire range. Intriguing as the cold-pressed shampoos and conditioners were, it was the Scalp Detox that caught my attention. A vitamin-rich, oil-based treatment that claims to nourish the scalp and promote hair growth, I scooped up a bottle several months back. Its protective seal has remained untouched, though, thanks to my crazy-busy schedule — until now. While three days is too short a time to witness any hair growth, I do love the tingling, minty-fresh sensation it leaves. Clean head, clear thoughts, am I right?

Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque

My regular hairstylist is weeping tears of joy as I write this because, yes, my dry, brittle tresses are finally getting the TLC it deserves. I bore a healthy amount of scepticism when trying this product — as I tend to do with most cult offerings — but thankfully, my worries were unfounded. This thick, creamy concoction softened locks without weighing it down and eased through tangles with barely any effort thanks to the accompanying teasing brush. On days where your mane feels unmanageable, slather it on, shove it under a shower cap, and let it work its magic overnight.

Lush Therapy Massage Bar

Is there anything quite as apt in these troubled times? I've always wanted to venture into massage bars — dating back to my fledging days as a part-timer at Lush — so I was, understandably, excited to incorporate this into my routine. This one smells soothingly of lavender and wild orange oil, serving as a balm of sorts in seriously stressful situations. I've been kneading myself with this solid serotonin slab whenever I bring up a news site to check for COVID-19 updates.

L'Occitane Shea Intensive Hand Balm

To be fair, I've been moisturising my hands intensively since the pandemic first began in February. I have, however, ditched lighter offerings in lieu of this rich cream. Equipped with 25% shea butter, I keep this by my desk so I can hydrate my dry, flaky digits on the regular. The fact that I'm cooped up indoors — with my air-conditioner on blast — makes this even more of a precious commodity.

Rough Beauty Fruity Footy Foot Scrub

I draw the line at popping on a face mask during Zoom meetings out of professional courtesy. My tootsies, however, are fair game. This local label's citrus scrub blend best mimics the spa experience at my go-to pedicure salon. Ultimately, its fragrance is the biggest draw for me — baby-soft feet aside, the fragrance is uplifting and energising in equal measure.
