MLBB. Learn that acronym because a perfect nude lippie is about to become the best weapon in your beauty arsenal

While dark lip colors rule the Fall and Holiday season, they aren't that easy to pull off on a day-to-day basis. Not only do bolder shades require more precise application, they also take up more time and usually require a dressed-up outfit. After all goth lips with jeans and a tee can look a tad mismatched.

Instead, to look freshly made up with half the effort, opt for the My Lips but Better (MLBB) look instead. MLBB shades come in nude hues which enhance and brighten one's natural lip colour. Because they come in a plethora of formulas, tones and finishes, they suit different skin tones and purposes as well.

For those who have fair or pale skin and enjoy satin to matte finishes, Estée Lauder's Pure Color Envy Lip Potion in Not so Innocent would be an ideal pick. The colour can be described as a neutral rose and offers a pinkish tint as it wears off over the day. With the infusion of avocado, jojoba and sunflower oils into this lip potion, this product can be worn comfortably the whole day long.

If a more hydrating texture is preferred, two great options would be Guerlain KISSKISS Roselip in Peach Party and Benefit Benebalm.

While their colour payoffs aren't as rich or intense as lipsticks, they feel great on the lips and look very natural. The only difference between the two is that Guerlain's Peach Party is warmer and peach-tinged, while Benefit Cosmetic's Benebalm is pink-tinged. Nonetheless, due to their translucency, they will work on all skin tones. They can also be worn over lipsticks for added  shine.

M.A.C Cremesheen Lipstick in Crème in Your Coffee, unlike the above, falls into the mid-tone pinkish brown range. Due to the darker undertones, this suits medium to tanned skins. Though this is a Cremesheen, which is a moisturising formula, one swipe is all it takes for an opaque coverage. With a smooth, buttery texture, lips are less prone to drying out too.

A cult favorite amongst many is Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick which provides long-lasting colour and a formula that conditions the lips over the day. Though it looks like a dark dusty rose, it actually glides on lightly like a stain first and can be built up after. It's colour has been described as a 'fruit stain', as though one has been eating red, succulent strawberries. If you require a stronger payoff, it can be layered over Nars Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil.

There is literally a world of stunning MLBB colours available, in a multitude of shades and finishes. The best thing about this trend? It always looks amazing and brightens up the entire face effortlessly.
