Three ways to get your glow on this new year

Three ways to get your glow on this new year

Light it up

Start with your skincare and add touches of luminosity on your skin so you practically sparkle with light

Let this year be a good skin year. And we're not just talking an even and smooth complexion, but attaining Cate Blanchett levels of radiance. Picture skin that looks like you are getting enough water, sleep, exercise... basically the whole shebang, even if the reality is cigarettes, coffee and all-nighters. Because glowing skin starts from the base up, get your strobing game right with these new skincare and makeup products that are designed to give you that perfect luminosity with minimal effort.

If you don't have serious ageing or pigmentation concerns, a skincare range that is designed to bring on a rosy glow is a good starting point. Look for hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid as well as skin brightening properties. Vichy's new Idéalia Lumière Illuminating range contains the antioxidant peony root as well as moisture-binding hyaluronic acid to decrease sallowness and improve the overall luminosity of your complexion. The range includes a Lotion — for use after cleansing — an Essence and a Replumping Day Cream.

Don't go overboard with the strobing as you never want to look like a disco ball on steroids, but a stick or pen illuminator will be handy when adding small touches of light where needed. Remember to blend your product well with your fingers or a brush to avoid having patchy spots of shimmer on your face. Sisley's Phyto-Blush Twist comes in four new shades. While three are blush colours that are great for brightening the skin with a subtle flush, the fourth, Glow, is a gorgeous, translucent hue that is perfect for dabbing on the cheek apples, nose bridge and chin to subtly sculpt your face. All four sticks melt from a cream to a powder finish when applied.

Want that romantic, candlelight glow on your skin? A good finishing powder will give skin that soft-focus finish without that heaviness. Laura Mercier extends it Candleglow range with the new Sheer Perfecting Powder that comes in six colours. This multi-purpose product can
set, perfect and finish a makeup look without dulling the skin in an overly-powdered veil. Play with your makeup brushes to get the finish and coverage you crave.
