Adele is usually synonymous with thick black liner and lots of mascara. Which is why we were taken by surprise when we saw her fresh makeup for her latest music video. Get the look with these products

Adele is known for more than her rich, dulcet tones and emotional tunes. The 28-year old singer-songwriter also has a pretty mean beauty game. Known for her signature, 60's-inspired look of thick black liner and mascara, she sports a more relaxed look in her latest music video (above). First, we know you're loving her gypsy-like floral dress. Pick it up for a cool US$9,000 — detachable pussy bow optional — from Dolce & Gabbana.  Now on to the makeup and hair.

With a slightly dishevelled updo, Adele's stylist has got that hair-that's-gone-a-bit-messy -after-dancing look down pat. Don't worry about flyaways if you're recreating this look. Her makeup artist meanwhile shows off the singer's sculpted features with gold eyeshadow, soft blusher and a gorgeous stain on the lips. Here's what you need to get her look.

1. Super-light foundation
Forget thick and mask-like foundation, and go for something skin-like, that still gives a bit of coverage. Apply foundation only where needed — a brush will give you a more even finish. Only apply concealer where needed, such at the inner and outer corners of the eyes and at the sides of the nose.

2. Shimmery gold shadow
Gold shadow is one of those colours that suits virtually any skin tone — from very pale skin like Adele's, to even mocha or chocolate complexions. Here the shadow pigment is intense and applied over the entire lid and up to the crease. Use a liquid or cream shadow to get that molten metal effect and blend well with a brush, before it sets, diffusing the colour at the edges for a softer effect.

3. Black accents
No Adele still hasn't abandoned her signature black. You'll still need black liquid liner — though here she uses a thin line and not an obvious cat eye — and lashings and lashings of black mascara to really bring out the eyes. If you want lashes that have that oomph and a long-lasting curl, start with an eyelash curler, then use a primer, before finishing off with two to three coats of mascara. Don't neglect your lower lashes as well.

4.  English rose tones on the lips and cheeks
Because Adele remains the embodiment of the English rose, she wears girlish, almost summery tones on her lips and cheeks. Try a cheek tint in a pink hue for a hint of colour dotted on the apples and blended into skin. And go for a lipstick or lipstain in a bright punch — darken the colour according to your own skin tone, blotting or patting on with your fingers for a sheerer finish.
