Paris Fashion Week FW18: Best beauty looks

Painted faces

This fashion week we celebrate the off-the-wall, artistic makeup and hair looks at Paris Fashion Week

Will we be copying all these looks from Paris Fashion Week for our regular day makeup inspo? Probably not wholesale. From paint-like streaks on the eyes to gold smeared over the lips, not every creation is what would traditionally deemed wearable. But therein lies their appeal. If you're tired of the overdone matte lips, paint by numbers highlighter and stencilled-on brows that are all over Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube you might be ready to shake things up. Following our picks from New York, London and Milan, behold Paris for the pièce de résistance.

And the makeup maestros and hair geniuses at Paris Fashion Week did not disappoint. From the clever glitter accents at Rahul Mishra and Akris to the unrestrained splashes of colour on the eyes at Kenzo, Jour/Né and the geometric shapes at Yohji Yamamoto, there was a carefree, unstudied ease to the makeup and hair looks that we want to emulate. Even the simplest of looks — a streak of liner or coats of white mascara — has a raw simplicity that was quietly subversive.
