LFW SS17: Most romantic beauty looks

All aglow

With tousled braids, luminous skin and lived-in glamour, London Fashion Week brought the pretty back to beauty

At London Fashion Week a lot of shows  highlighted the ubiquitous no-makeup makeup look. But trawling through backstage and runway photos and mining for trends, we found a few standout looks that sparked our interest. From bright lips, to windblown tresses to all-out glamour, here are those worth a mention.

1. The luminous lip
Models at Mary Katranztou wore super bright, almost crayoned-on matte lips in saturated shades like tomato orange, hot pink and scarlet. We liked that different shades were used depending on the model's skin and hair colours, proving there's a bright for everyone. Try a liquid lipstick or a product like Marc Jacobs Beauty Pop Lip Color Stick for a similar effect.

2. The girlish braid
At Emilia Wickstead, the prim, almost schoolgirlish braid that started at the crown and continued all the way down the sides of the head, reminded us of our childhood hairstyles, and is the perfect foil for the romance of spring.

3. Intense glamour
With sexily, tousled waves and beautifully-sculpted smoky eyes — check out the details such as the gold to black gradation — peach blusher and glossy pink lips, we're getting Kylie (Minogue not Jenner) circa 2000 vibes. Fitting since the singer served as muse to Macdonald in the past.

4. Heavy liner
Bold, Indian-inspired kohl liner and dramatically-defined brows was the look at Ashish and it complemented the traditional headgear and jewellery to a T.

5. Ethereal beauty
At Erdem, the models floated by with translucent skin, artfully-windblown hair anchored by black ribbon bands and soft apricot touches on the eyes and lips.

6. Smudged lips
The interesting beauty look at Molly Goddard celebrated an imperfect aesthetic — think freckled skin, artfully smudged lipstick and quirky yellow mascara — that felt very now and relevant.

7. A perfect sheen
We loved the glowing skin and soft taupe eyes at Daks, as we did the buns that were elegant but ever-so-slightly messy.

8. Wet looks braids
Trust Simone Rocha to nail the general vibe of LFW in the show's look. Twin braids are combined with wet look details and windblown strands, while the skin and stripped-down makeup had a slightly sweaty, raw feel.
