See Katy Perry's hair breakover plus three other celebrity post-breakup cuts
Shears to that
When Katy Perry's publicist announced that she and her boyfriend of over a year, Orlando Bloom had broken up, no one was that surprised. After all Perry has had her run of public relationships including a failed marriage to comedian Russell Brand and an on-again, off-again romance with singer John Mayer. In the past, Perry has also had hair makeovers — or breakovers as they're now deemed — including dyeing her locks blue after her divorce from Brand. Her newest look? A platinum crop complete with edgy undercut that was influenced by actress Michelle Williams and created by renowned stylist Chris McMillan. On Snapchat, McMillan said about the cut "I love it. I've been wanting to do this since the day I met you. You remember?" Besides Perry, who has since cropped her hair even shorter, in an apparent tribute to Annie Lennox, here are other celebrities, who had their own mini hair breakovers over the years. Going through a rough patch of your own? Take inspiration from these celebrity-approved tricks.
Do you remember Robert Pattinson in his Kristen Stewart days? Well, we do and he was far from the suave and groomed leading man he is today, preferring a grungy and slightly dishevelled appearance that was at odds with his burgeoning fame. After the couple's first shock break-up in July 2012, Pattinson appeared with groomed locks and manly scruff for the Cosmopolis press events, looking better than he had in years. The lesson? Man or woman, get out there, put up a brave front, and make sure you look good doing it.
It's the oldest trick in a book for a style refresh or if you're getting bored with your locks, but can't commit to something big. When actress Olivia Wilde, split from her husband of eight years, filmmaker and photographer Tao Ruspoli, she got new bangs. Seen here at the Golden Globes in January 2011, Wilde and Ruspoli had already split up by then, though their break-up would only be announced to the press later in February of that year.
Can't bring yourself to chop it all off, but desperate for a change? That's probably what Anne Hathaway was feeling when she split from then-boyfriend Rafaello Follieri in 2008 after the latter was charged with multiple counts of fraud. The equivalent of washing a man right out of your hair, Hathaway cut her locks from long to shoulder-grazing and debuted her new 'do in the press trail for her movie Get Smart.
