Formula 1 fix-its: Touch-up essentials to slip into your purse

Off to the races

These are the clutch-friendly beauty bits to have on hand when you’re out painting the town red during Formula 1 season

You know those makeup minis you tend to turn a blind eye to when you're shuffling along in the checkout line at Sephora? 'I'll just de-pot and decant my Holy Grails into reusable Muji containers if I'm going away' is what you're probably thinking, but not all minis are made exclusively for travel purposes. While the somewhat costly convenience of simply buying miniaturised versions of everything in your daily makeup menu has its own pros and cons, it's less about the price and more about the size — especially if you're going to be frequenting the night scene when F1 fever rolls around.

Between the extra racecar-generated heat and the over-packed mosh pit at all the concerts, you just know looking like a hot mess is an inevitability. But here's where those minis come in to help you quick-fix your way back to decent, with their compact sizing allowing you to slip a few more products into even the most ridiculously tiny purses. For those hot F1 parties (and every other night out), these are the touch-up essentials you're going to be thankful you're toting around:

1. Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Blotting Papers, $18
Don't belittle the humble blotting sheet. These ones by new-in cult brand Tatcha are made from abaca leaf and eschew powder, fragrance and pulp for the most naturally derived sheets. They're great at removing excess oil without disturbing your makeup while still leaving your skin's natural moisture intact.

2. Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer, $49
Just about the best concealer out there that wears beautifully under every lighting condition, its easy blendability also makes it great for spot-correcting. Whip out this baby to 'clean up' your undereye area if those mascara and eyeliner smudges are starting to look a little grim.

3. Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Ma'Damn, $28
If you've held a Mattemoiselle in your hands before, you'd know it's the slimmest and lightest tube of lipstick ever. For weighing practically nothing, you get a long-wearing, velvety matte finish and killer pigmentation to boot. Plus the bold, rich red of Ma'Damn never fails to turn heads.

4. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting 4-in-1 Setting Mist (30ml), $20
Can we just put it out there that a travel-sized facial mist is a fairly rare specimen? So it's fab when you've found one in a cute mini spray bottle that does it all, from refreshing your skin with a boost of hydration to reducing redness and puffiness, on top of extending your makeup wear time for up to 12 hours.

5. Tom Ford Velvet Orchid travel spray (10ml), $73
No one wants to smell like stale sweat or public transport (or an unholy combination of both) as the night progresses, so a rollerball perfume's pretty crucial right about wee o'clock. Tom Ford does one better with a spray nozzle so you don't have to fumble around with stopper caps. Douse yourself in its signature ultra-feminine yet mysterious scent and voila, instant glamour.
