As long-time members of the beauty community will tell you, variety is the spice of life. Perhaps that explains the staggering growth of the industry over the past few years; the foregoing of cookie cutter offerings in favour of labels that promise both innovation and ingenuity. Vegan skincare? Check. Clean fragrances? Hells yeah. Cruelty-, paraben-, and sulphate-free makeup? Bet on it. And while such progress is well and good, the sheer volume of products available can leave consumers feeling overwhelmed. That's where we come in — to help you narrow down which of these bad boys to splash out on, we've come up with a list of products we've personally tried that are worth their salt.
This week, we turn our focus on Australian luxury skin care brand, Aesop, who have made their mark with their singular mix of indulgent product experiences, thoughtful language, and modern minimalist designs. Credit cards at the ready, folks.
Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Oil
Back in February this year, we had the luxury of getting our hands on this cleansing oil. Perfect for all types of skin, this cleanser containing key ingredients macadamia seed, tocopherol and beta-carotene - meaning it has loads of vitamin E, A and anti-oxidants that is sure to rid your skin from toxins just from one wash. An effective make-up remover to boot, this cleanser is sure to leave your skin feeling cleansed and softened.
In Two Minds Facial Cleanser
We recommended this gentle facial cleanser at the start of this month. Specifically formulated for combination skin — those with an oilier T-zone and dry cheeks with a greater propensity to reactivity —this cleanser is both gentle and effective. Containing witch hazel, salicylic acid andsage leaf, it cleanses your skin thoroughly without drying our skins or stripping them of their essential oils, thus leaving skin feeling purified and refreshed.
Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser
My personal favourite - and a staple in my bathroom — rhia is an invigorating gentle gel cleanser formulated with oils of Mandarin and Bergamot Rind that banish grime effectively, thoroughly refreshing the skin. I can attest that fans of low-foaming gels would love this cleanser . Featuring key ingredients such as geranium leaf, mandarin rind and bergamot rind, this cleanser imparts a refreshing green aroma, effecting a subtly fragrance all-day.
Rose Hair & Scalp Moisturising Masque
If you suffer from a dry scalp or damaged hair, this product is a must-have. Containing rose petal, beta-carotene and lavender stem, this intensive, conditioning treatment is meant to restore vitality, lustre and softness to your locks all while soothing dry and flaky scalps — emitting a warm, woody and floral aroma that is sure to soothe the soul.
Rōzu Eau de Parfum
Yes, Aesop has made inroads to fragrances as well. In an interview we've had with Dr. Kate Forbes —brainchild behind this fragrance — she said that it was their preference to create a more complex character, surpassing obsolete definitions of gender and perceptions of masculine and feminine olfactory desire. Inspired by the life, work and enthusiasms of the modernist designer Charlotte Perriand, this scent was formulated in homage to the Japanese garden rose that was created in her name.
