Haze season is upon us once more, and with it, various forms of irritations including stuffed noses, recurring asthma episodes, and the constant drone of your neighbour's air purifier (sigh). And to make matters worse, there's also the matter of your complexion — i.e. the effects of haze on skin. Yup, it seems those pesky dusty particles are as aggravating to your skin as they are your... entire being. Luckily, there are many a skin-shielding product out there that prove as helpful as your trusty N95 mask. We provide a step-by-step guide to the ultimate anti-haze skincare routine to embark on, below. Keep calm and slather up, folks.

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse

Double-cleansing is non-negotiable in this weather. You see, air pollutants ain't picky about where they settle, and there's a high chance that it'll be landing upon your precious mug. It could, then, mix with your sebum, sweat, and impurities, which lead to massive breakouts and clogged pores. We say avoid this by opting for the most potent deep cleansing formulations you can get your paws on.

A probiotic-packed serum is the way to go

These bad boys are known to up your skin's defences, boosting its barrier function and preventing more complexion-harming nasties from sinking in. They also soothe, hydrate, and smooth to grant a healthy, glowing complexion despite the hazy weather.

Load up on the hydration factor

Dry, dehydrated skin weakens the skin's barrier function, which in turn increases the likelihood of dull and aged skin due to reduced protection from harmful air pollutants. Counteract this with a potent moisturiser to grant an intense jolt of hydration every time.

Swap out your SPF for an anti-pollution one

UVA and UVB rays aren't the only things to watch out for this season. An anti-pollution option keeps those air pollutants at bay while also protecting from the blue light radiating off your screens. Now, that's what we call win, win, win.

Seal it all in with an anti-pollution primer

We love a bare face just as much as everyone else, but on days when you want to be a little more made up, go for a primer to extend the longevity of makeup while also protecting from pollution, blue light, and UV rays.
