Zara Beauty is coming your way, Billie Eilish’s secret tattoo, and other beauty news
1. Zara Beauty will be launching online — and at select outlets — come 12 May.
Surprise, we betcha didn't see this one coming. The fast fashion retailer has announced that they will be kicking off their cosmetics arm with a massive drop comprising over 130 colours. This includes six lip products (matte lipstick, satin lipstick, demi-matte lipstick, tinted balm, lip oil, lip gloss); six-hued eyeshadow palettes; smaller shadow duos; an eyeliner; loose metallic pigments; bronzer; blush palettes; highlighter; 39 (!) nail polishes; and six makeup brushes.
Well, it is certainly in line with the brand's vision; a collection touted as "an expansive array of consciously unique formulas for eyes, lips, face, and nails." No word yet as to if it'll be available on Singapore's shores, so we suppose we'll just have to wait and see. Fingers crossed.
2. Billie Eilish reveals her secret tattoo.
One which she had claimed her fans would "never see," we might add. Still, Eilish has been making big pivots as of late, where her latest 'do and Vogue photoshoot has cemented her entrance into a new musical — and stylistic — era. Said ink can be spotted in British Vogue's June 2021 issue; a massive snake curled up on Eilish's right thigh.
3. Drake is (finally) releasing his candles.
On Mother Day's, to be exact. His US fans, however, can get their paws on it two days early via food delivery app, Postmates. According to the Hotline Bling singer, a minimum order of USD$50 from any of his favourite restaurants in L.A. and New York gets you a complimentary candle while stocks last. In case you were wondering, the Canadian rapper enjoys chowing down on grub from STK, Tao, Lavo, Nobu, Blue Ribbon Sushi, and more. How cute. Though not so much for the rest of us international folk, who are going to have to fight it out when merch hits shelves via the official online store. Credit cards at the ready, we say.
4. Kylie Cosmetics has deleted all images from their Instagram grid — except for one post.
Cryptic, alright. Aforementioned photo is one of brand's founder, Kylie Jenner, sporting asymmetrical bangs and decked out in an all-pink ensemble. The caption: a mind-boggling "something is coming." Uh, okay. This is reflected via the label's website, too, though it does contain an e-mail field where users are able to submit their interest in finding out what this is all about. Watch this space for more updates.
5. Lil Yachty has created a unisex nail polish brand.
Named Crete, it aims to make nail polish accessible for everyone — including men. "If you find painting your nails is a way to show your creative side or it's an aesthetic that fits you, you shouldn't be judged for it," the rapper stated in a press release. "Outside opinion shouldn't have an effect on your aesthetic and whatever you decide to do and this line is a reflection of that." The full range will be available for purchase online on 21 May. It has since been generating buzz for its unique, pen-like packaging which fellow songwriter Riodayungog aptly sums up as "goat."
6. Chanel introduces an exclusive new app for your pout.
A virtual makeup app that allows you to try on Chanel's diverse range of lippies as you please? Well, yes, but it's more than that. As its name suggests, it even allows you to scan people's lips — whether that's your best friend's or someone's spotted off a print ad — where it will then identify the lipstick texture and colour before suggesting the closest match from Chanel's collection. That's some Clueless level of technology right there.
7. The Body Shop adds two new scents to their family.
Enter: Cool Daisy and Fresh Raspberry. The former is available in body yogurt, shower gel, and body mist variants, while the latter comes in a body butter, body mist, shower gel, and exfoliating body scrub. Both are limited edition ranges which will hit shelves 13 May, so be sure to act fast and snap 'em up before stocks run dry.
