Zara and Jo Malone collab to launch fragrances, James Charles announces makeup competition series, and other beauty news
1. Zara and Jo Malone teams up to launch a new scent collection.
The Zara Emotions Collection by Jo Loves comprises eight different fragrances that are formulated using ingredients Malone personally loves. Think grapefruit, mandarin, spearmint, musk, and the like. Now available online as well as in stores in Europe, Mexico, Australian, and New Zealand. No word yet as to its official arrival to Singapore shores, but we suspect it'll be sometime soon.
2. James Charles will be hosting YouTube's first-ever beauty competition series.
The four-part series, to debut in March 2020, will be a reality-TV style competition in the vein of Project Runway — only with makeup. Six aspiring makeup artists will be selected from a pool of applicants, flown out to L.A., and participate in a series of challenges showing off their chops to Charles and a panel of industry veterans. The winner will receive US$50,000 and become an "instant influencer." Speaking of influencers...
3. Jaclyn Cosmetics is back — and hopefully, better than ever, with a new highlighter collection.
The YouTuber might have stepped out of the spotlight upon the implosion of her lipstick line, but she's not entirely out for the count yet. The brand's second launch comprises a Highlighter Palette, Loose Highlighter, and a Luminous Powder so bright, it will guarantee you the top spot on the #highlighteronfleek hashtag. Hill also released a statement addressing the brand's past failures, and the steps she's taken to ensure that it won't be part of the brand's future. "We've added over 20 people to Jaclyn Cosmetics to make sure that what happened in the past never happens again and it can be a successful launch, and I can prove myself as a brand and as a CEO." Time will tell.
4. Ariana Grande is getting a tattoo glove.
We're well-aware of the small charcoal grill tattoo on her palm, but that might just be a small piece amongst many others Grande has planned on inking. The singer's go-to tattoo artist, Mira Mariah, recently revealed that she's added two new artwork to Grande's hands. The singer shared her new ink on Instagram story.
5. Kylie Cosmetics reveals their much-anticipated holiday collection.
Dropping 19 November worldwide, the collection features an impressive array of new products and fan-favourite formulations in new hues. Jenner took to Instagram to reveal a new lip kit, lip gloss trio, primer, four-piece brush set, setting spray, lipstick minis, eyeliner, blush/highlighter duos, and an eyeshadow palette. This — in addition to the upcoming Black Friday sales — means the site is probably going to bombarded over the next week or two, so be sure you have a strong WiFi signal should you be getting in on the action. And that's not the only new beauty release on our radar...
6. Haus Laboratories debuts a sparkly holiday line-up.
Expect a variety of high-shine, glittering lipsticks as well as pigment-packed, crease-resistant liquid eyeshadow sticks perfect for the festive season. Hitting shelves 18 November, we recommend standing vigil by your laptop until the collection drops — sell-out status is practically guaranteed, at this point.
7. Guests at Ashley Graham's baby shower received one-of-a-kind beauty gifts.
In an interesting turn of events, the model offered real tattoos and piercings at her party. She later gave a toast, declaring that the celebration was "bigger than her wedding", like Christmas. "If you haven't gotten your ears pierced or a tattoo, you have to do that. There's so much food, there's a big cake." Guests could also decorated baby onesies which would be donated to families in need. May we suggest adding party-planning to Graham's (already extensive) resumé...?
8. Selena Gomez opens up on body shaming — and its effects — in an interview.
"I experienced [body-shaming] with my weight fluctuation for the first time. I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues, and for me, that's when I really started noticing more of the body-image stuff." The singer addressed, before talking about how the harsh criticism she received on social media got to her. Thankfully, she revealed that she's happy living her life now, and will "continue to understand and have compassion for people." That applies to her critics too. Power to you, sis.
