Here's how YSL Beauté created luscious lip colour that acts and feels like a balm
Women suffer a lot in the name of beauty. From plastic surgery, to double Spanxing, to lipsticks that dry out your kissers. But once in awhile a beautiful invention comes around that is both stylish and comfortable. Enter the new Yves Saint Laurent Beauté's Volupté Liquid Colour Balm. As its name suggests its essentially a balm, but this is way more advanced than your the standard Vaseline or Carmex that you pick up from the pharmacy. For starters, the colour is actually highly pigmented. Although the brand says that "strong pigment payoff is hard to achieve in most moisturising lip care formulas", wearing this feels pleasant and dare-we-say almost hydrating. It's like using a non-sticky lip gloss that actually hydrates. Unlike most lip glosses, the moisturising effect actually lasts. In the formula is a 35 percent active water phase, natural coconut water and antioxidant rich pomegranate extract.
As for the colour, it retains its intense finish, thanks to the Liquid Light Complex, ultra-bright pearls that deliver brighter more dewy colour. And like we mentioned, this little luxury is pretty darn stylish. In a sleek, silver tube it's the little touches that make it so covetable. The lip-shaped 'window' in each tube allows you to see the colour of the shade, while the plush, lip-shaped applicator is another cute touch that is actually pretty functional — use the tip for the contours of your lip. Shades-wise there is nothing too extreme — don't expect molten gold, blues or greens! The hot fuchsia colour, Excite Me Pink, is worn by the campaign model Staz Lindes, but we're just as smitten with the soft pinks and nudes and deeper plums. The brand predicts that shade 11, Hook Me Berry is going to be a best-seller, and looking at the utterly gorgeous shade we can't disagree.
