China's top makeup brand, Marie Dalgar, launches its Colour Studio in Sephora Singapore and the textures and colours will surprise you

When we first heard the brand name Marie Dalgar, we were a little confused as to where it originated from. The name of the brand sounds vaguely European, and the sleek white and pixillated packaging and gleaming, holographic offerings look almost futuristic. Surprisingly, the brand comes from China. More than 10 years ago, the founder Masa Cui, built her brand from scratch with the motto 'Dress different, create differences.' Cui was in tune with the Asian customers’ needs and understood their desire for longer, thicker eyelashes. After extensive research on the different ways to improve eyelashes and make them more prominent, she came up with the world’s first grafting mascara. This mascara promised a 300 percent boost in length, 700 percent increase in thickness and a 45° natural curl. Needless to say, it became so popular that it broke records — with one piece being sold every 15 seconds. It also kickstarted her brand's meteoric rise to fame.

Today, Cui’s spirit for innovation has led to the birth of a whole new slew of unique beauty products under the Marie Dalgar Colour Studio. This new lines focusses on achieving a 360° holographic glow. By playing with light and shadows, the 'It's Holo' collection brings attention to your best features and allows them to stand out with subtle sheen and unique colours. The collection includes an eyeshadow palette, highlighter and lipstick kit. Besides the fact that the colours offered are intense and unusual — think gleaming yellow golds and pinks that are more suited to Asian complexions than brands like Fenty Beauty — all the makeup also contains a moisturising essence so it feels silky and light when worn on the face. Added microspheres in the formula also fit better on your face, allowing your makeup to last longer while giving the finish a more even, natural glow. If you love playing with finishes on your lips, the Holo Lipstick Kit is a great set of six lipsticks. Four have holographic effects while two offer a more natural glow, perfect for mixing and matching to create the desired effect. Great for cosplay, nights on the town or anytime you want to shine with a little something more, it's no wonder the brand is getting glowing reviews from the local makeup community.
