Wake up your skin

If there's one thing Fresh masks are good at, it's instantly rejuvenating your skin. Here's what the latest offering from the brand can do for you

If you've just come away from tonnes of visiting, bingeing and late nights, chances are your skin is not looking its best. But if you've made one resolution for your skin this year that's actually kind of fun, let it be masking. Fresh is known for its effective and fast-working masks, and its ninth iteration promises to be radiance in a jar. All it requires in terms of a time commitment is five minutes. The Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask is perfect for skin dullness and recovery from stressful events — be it post-flight, after binge-watching shows on Netflix on a work night, or if you've had a tough day in the office.

The key ingredient in this mask? The lotus — in particular, lotus plants found from neighbouring Vietnam. Says Fresh co-founder Lev Glazman, "The lotus has been cultivated in eastern Asia for over 3,000 years. The plant is considered sacred in many cultures, but I especially love the way the Buddhists regard it. They believe that it is the ultimate symbol of complete purification, as it journeys through water to rise above the surface and blossom into a stunning flower. Various parts of the lotus have been used in traditional herbal medicine for centuries." But using the lotus as a modern skincare ingredient is a relatively new thought.

How it is used in this case? The lotus flower extract, is the key ingredient in Fresh’s proprietary Super 7 Complex, along with lotus seeds, and both ingredients are sourced from Southeast Asia. In this super, creamy mask, the seeds work with  kombu seaweed flakes and red algae to buff and refine the skin in a gentle manner, and also has sea fennel extract added in to smooth and enhance suppleness in your complexion. The sacred lotus was my muse because it’s packed with antioxidants that protect skin from free radicals the same way the plant preserves its fragile blossom in muddy water. Because lotus lives in water, I wanted to dive even deeper into marine ingredients," explains Glazman. You'll especially love the cushiony texture that was inspired by the brand's iconic Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. “By cocooning and gently buffing the skin, this mask restores your youthful radiance — and the experience of using it feels like you’ve been whisked off on an exotic escape."
