Miley Cyrus gets a risqué tattoo, Doraemon makeup is going to be a thing, and other beauty news this week
1. Deciem founder, Brandon Truaxe, dies at 40.
Best known for cult skincare line The Ordinary, Deciem founder Brandon Truaxe has died at 40. The cause of death has not yet been released, though National Post has reported that the Toronto police responded to a possible suicide at Truaxe's condominium building on Sunday.
2. Paul & Joe Beauty is dropping a Doraemon-themed makeup collection.
The brand is keeping mum on details so far, but pics have leaked. Now, that's a childhood memory we'd gladly relive.
3. Ruby Rose keeps it cool...
with a fresh new 'do. From black to brown to honey highlights to blonde to icy blue, it's clear Rose can wear 'em all. Her transformation echoes that of Lady Gaga and Kylie Jenner; coral better watch its back.
4. Colourpop is launching their first ever mascara.
The notable absence of mascara from Colourpop's comprehensive line-up has always been a point of contention amongst die-hard fans, but now we can say a resounding "finally" to this happy news. The Colourpop BFF Mascara will be available in six head-turning shades of red, teal, pink, blue, gold and purple — in addition to classic black, of course. Available from 24 January.
5. High pigtails are the nostalgic comeback we've been waiting for.
You know what they say: the higher the hair, the closer to God. Already spotted on deities Beyonce and Jason Momoa, we can't wait to see in whose direction the trend will continue swinging towards. Pun intended.
6. Miley Cyrus gets some raunchy new ink.
Hardly one for subtlety, the newly married Cyrus got 'pussy' prettily inked on her ankle. Consider the derogatory word reclaimed.
7. Kerry Washington keeps it real in her Neutrogena campaign.
The growing awareness of unrealistic beauty standards in traditional advertising is heartening, especially when it comes from celebrity of Kerry Washington's calibre. The Scandal star is featured alongside other influential beauties — 100% Photoshop free — in CVS beauty ads. Yas, queens.
8. Zac Efron goes for a mic drop of a makeover.
Debuting a bold new 'do during the promotion of his latest flick Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Efron proves that he can pull off just about any look. May we suggest pastels next?
