This limited edition, 9-colour Chanel eyeshadow palette is only available in one boutique
Eyeshadow palettes may be one of the staples of makeup brands, and many of them contain a variety of hues to create several different iterations within that colour scheme. Then there are those eyeshadow palettes that have so many colours, it becomes almost like a mind-boggling puzzle you can't solve — how to use all the colours equally, and not leave the odd shade virtually untouched in the pan. Chanel has always been beautifully restrained when it comes to their makeup offerings, preferring a curated collection rather than every colour in the rainbow when it comes to their palettes. But this time they have splashed out a nine-colour palette that is influenced by the gorgeous colours of Naples. The Les 9 Ombres Palette Édition in No 1 Affresco, is both utterly collectible yet so wearable.
"All the elements of Naples are in here," says Lucia Pica, the brand's global creative makeup and colour designer."My hope is that women will be open and spontaneous with the colours... they are buildable, so you can wear a subtle wash of colour or create a more intense effect." The brand says the palette is a play on both texture and colour. The palette is divided equally despite its somewhat assymmetrical design. There are three matte, three satin and three high-shine shades, while the colours range from brighter to more muted tones — an accurate reflection of everyday beauty found the city of Naples, the inspiration for this collection and this particular palette. You'll find unexpected shades like a cheery, bright green alongside a chic, faded grey-green. In a similar vein, a glow-y, peachy beige is balanced by the kind of mink brown that you'll reach for on a daily basis, while a gleaming gold (that's great as a highlighter) is the perfect foil to a rusty-red brown. True to her vision for the brand, Pica has picked shades that are both flattering and interesting on the skin, something which we would love to see more of in beauty brand's bids to create the most fantastical creations that don't always work in real life.
