1. Local actor, Lawrence Wong, announces the upcoming launch of his skincare brand.

Named Grail, the label prides itself on sustainable, eco-certificated, and biodegradable goods. It is also said to be powered by botanicals to grant healthy, radiant skin. No word yet as to an official launch date, though Wong has teased that it'll be out in early 2021. An Instagram account has been set up, with its feed peppered with several cryptic images of candles and lavender plants. Does this mean there'll be some wellness products in the mix, too...? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

2. The Ordinary drops a full-coverage concealer.

It seems everyone's favourite skincare house has brought their no-frills approach to makeup, too. Unlike their previous skincare-makeup foundation hybrid, The Ordinary's latest launch is simply titled Concealer, and is branded as a full-fledged cosmetic product. It comes in 21 shades; is classified according to undertones (Y for Yellow, P for Pink, and R for Red); and costs a very affordable USD$5.80. The rave reviews are already flooding in, so we suggest you get in on this when it officially hits shelves 12 January. Don't say we didn't warn ya.

3. Pat McGrath is the first-ever makeup artist to be the awarded Dame of the British Empire.

For those unaware, Queen Elizabeth II bestows the titles of Sir and Dame to a select number of British folks for The Queen's New Year Honours List. Mother of makeup, Pat McGrath, has received the honour this year for her work in the beauty industry and diversity, marking the first time a MUA has qualified. "I am beyond humbled that I have been awarded a Damehood in the Queen's New Year 2021 Honours List," McGrath said in a statement. "I am truly delighted and humbled to be given this wonderful honor. My mother's obsession with beauty and fashion ignited my passion for this amazing industry, and I feel blessed to have the privilege of working with some of the most extraordinary people throughout my career."

4. Halsey is rumoured to be starting a makeup line.

The beauty sphere began buzzing after news account, Trendmood, revealed several swatches and images of About Face; the supposed brainchild of the Be Kind singer. So far, its lineup includes a Highlighter Fluid, Powder, Eyeshadow Stick, Lip Gloss, Matte Lipstick, Fluid Eye Paint, Matte Lip Pencil, a Primer Spray, and blending tool of sorts. Halsey has been keeping mum, though, but we expect confirmation will arrive sometime soon. Watch this space.

5. Tom Ford will be launching their Traceless Soft Matte Foundation come January.

Available in 10 hues, it combines soft-focus microsphere powders that blur imperfections with wear-extending pigments so you'll be able to boast a matte, radiant mien for hours on end. Expect medium to full buildable coverage as well as skin-nourishing capabilities that hydrate and boost your complexion's barrier. We'll be seeing you in line when this bad boy drops 7 January.

6. Estée Lauder reveals their Limited Edition Lunar New Year Collection.

Kick off the year of the Ox with some beautifully packaged — and prosperous beauty goodies. In this case, Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex; Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick and Lipstick Trio; Double Wear Soft Glow Matte Cushion Compact; as well as the Pure Colour Envy Eyeshadow Palette is getting the CNY treatment. Get 'em all come 5 January.

7. Demi Lovato celebrates her recovery from an eating disorder on Instagram.

"I used to genuinely believe recovery from an eating disorder wasn't real. That everyone was faking or secretly relapsing behind closed doors," Lovato wrote. The accompanying photo featured a close-up of her visible stretch marks. "'Surely she throws up here and there', 'she can't POSSIBLY accept her cellulite'... those we're just a few of the things that I used to tell myself growing up. I'm so grateful that I can honestly say for the first time in my life — my dietitian looked at me and said 'This is what eating disorder recovery looks like." The singer then went on to provide encouragement to other people going through the same thing, while reminding them to be gentle with themselves as they go on the mend. Hear, hear!
