Laundry day: M.A.C Wash & Dry
Summer beauty hits the spin cycle
M.A.C takes unlikely inspiration from the laundromat for its summer 2015 collection. Although somewhat of a rarity in Singapore, the laundromat has gained a sort of cult status in popular culture — think Ross and Rachel's first kiss in Friends and the 1985 movie My Beautiful Laundrette — as a place where anything can happen! Trust M.A.C to up the ante by tapping on the unexpected, low-level glamour of this everyday spot.
The collection includes fresh and bright hues that are perfect for hot-weather seasons, in super-sleek packaging inspired by detergent packaging from the past. We'll be standing in line (no, not for a vacant dryer), but for the bright lippies in shades ranging from summery corals to vivid oranges, the sexy-chic nail polishes in striking blues and the oh-so-wearable bronzing powders that add a healthy dust of colour to our summer glow without veering into Kim Kardashian territory.
And perhaps inspired by Cara Delevingne's caterpillar brows, there's some serious focus on the brows in this collection. With brow pencils and gel crèmes for any hair colour from red to blonde, plus a clear brow-setting mascara, it's easy to perfect your arches and lend a strong yet glamorous spin to your mid-year beauty look.
M.A.C Wash & Dry is a limited collection that hits the counters on 1 June. Products range from $25 onwards.
