Lady Gaga unveils Haus Laboratories, Dyson takes over Funan, and other beauty news this week
1. Lady Gaga unveils the full product lineup for her beauty brand, Haus Laboratories.
Haus Laboratories houses six distinct collections: Haus of Chained Ballerina, Haus of Goddess, Haus of Rose B*tch, Haus of Rockstar, Haus of Dynasty, and Haus of Metal Heads. Each collection comprises shimmery powders, lip liners, and high-shine lip glosses that play up to each persona. Think gunmetal grey liners for Haus of Metal Heads and glosses of pale pink and nude for Haus of Chained Ballerina. All collections will be available on the Haus Laboratories site as well as on Amazon — while stocks last, of course. Available 15 July.
2. KKW Beauty will be dropping a fiery new collection.
Aptly titled the Sooo Fire Collection, this newly formulated range will include glosses, liners, and eyeshadows in bold, "flammable" hues. The Internet is already calling it Kim's best collection yet, so be sure to snag it up stat if it strikes your fancy. Available 19 July.
3. John Boyega is the new face of Jo Malone London.
The Star Wars lead broke the news on his Instagram, promising "new fragrances to come with a special twist." As the first-ever male ambassador of the luxury fragrance brand, he is also ready to bring his "intelligent, inclusive and witty" input to the label. Exciting.
4. Glossier's latest lip gloss is Michelle Obama-approved.
The former first lady was spotted wearing the latest gloss in shade Red, while speaking at the Essence Festival in New Orleans — way before the product dropped in stores, FYI. Her long-time makeup artist later confirmed the product, and mentioned that it was layered over Make Up For Ever's Artist Nude Crème Liquid Lipstick. Gorg.
5. Jill Stuart partners Japan's leading contact lens manufacturer, Seed, to launch three new coloured lenses.
Think daily lenses in hues of pink, green, and blue coupled with exquisite patterns of printed wreaths and bows along the diameter. The lenses also come with UV absorbents and moisturising ingredients to ensure peepers stay hydrated and shielded from damaging UV rays. Pretty and practical? Just how we like it. Available at Spectacle Hut outlets island-wide.
6. Lava lamp nails are a thing.
These hyper-realistic, glow-emitting nail art is all over the 'gram as of late. Nail artist, Liam Peter, reveals that it is created through the layering of multiple jelly and neon gel polishes, so blobs appear to "float" and "come alive" the second light hits the nail. Sign. Us. Up.
7. Dyson's first-ever Demo Beauty Lab in Funan offers free hair makeovers and customisation services.
We're talking complimentary styling using the brand's highly-coveted Air Wrap Styler and Supersonic Hair Dryer, of course. Available via appointment only, on-site professional stylists will whip hair into shape (and the latest styles) in 30 minutes or so. Swoon. Purchasing visitors will be able to customise the colourways of their dryers and stylers which come with a case, also available in a colour of their choice.
8. Beyoncé rocks seriously enviable braids at the Lion King premiere.
...and the Internet is freaking out. Dubbed "finger-wave braids" by fans, the vintage look is created by celebrity stylist Kim Kimble, where super skinny cornrows were parted to the side and pinned back in swirls that descended into a cascading ponytail. Twitter user, @yepthatsb, summed up our thoughts perfectly: "Who you know have finger waves and braids — Queen Bey so rich she don't even to choose." Drop the tutorial, please?
