Kiehl's ups the concentration of vitamin C in its Line-Reducing Concentrate
Over the counter beauty products have their effectiveness, but are often limited by government restrictions on how much active ingredients are allowed in these formulas. So when a brand finds a way to introduce even higher levels of actives, while increasing efficacy and maintaining the safety of its products, it's a win-win for everyone. Says Kiehl’s scientific director Dr Geoff Genesky, "We applied our vitamin C expertise to formulate our new version of Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate. But it still took a lot of work! Vitamin C is especially difficult to work with because it is highly unstable and can lose its effectiveness. Vitamin C efficacy degradation is especially a concern when it is used in high concentrations, like in Powerful-Strength. In fact, we tried 89 different variations before we created the perfect formula." Talk about trying till you succeed. The new formula has a pleasant aroma and feels light on the skin.
By combining two key ingredients — and increasing the concentration of vitamin C from 10.5 to 12.5 per cent — the brand successfully plumps lines and reduces wrinkles. Says Dr Genesky, "Studies have demonstrated that skin's hyaluronic acid content decreases with age and becomes more susceptible after increased amounts of sun exposure. We combined hyaluronic acid and vitamin C in the formula for better results, faster. Through its ability to immediately absorb into upper layers of the skin and provide a plumping effect, our formula with hyaluronic acid is effective in smoothing skin texture and diminishing facial lines." Although this is targetted at lines, it also improved the overall look of skin, so it looks radiant and even-textured.
