Jenna Dewan's best beauty looks
Time to shine
Jenna Dewan is so much more than Magic Mike's wife. Before she had her big screen breakout role in 2006's Step Up opposite her for (now estranged) husband Channing Tatum, she was cutting her teeth as a backup dancer for the likes of the biggest pop stars in the world, like Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. And she wowed on the TV show Lip Sync Battle with a sexy parody of Tatum's performance of Ginuwine's 'Pony' which proved she was a charismatic live performer too.
It made us sad that despite their collective dance power, this star couple couldn't survive. With her exotic mix of tanned, olive-toned skin, bewitching grey-green eyes and inky bob, she has always stood out for the cookie cutter types that pepper Hollywood casting calls. Now seen on the TV contest World of Dance with fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough, Tatum has really been aceing the hair and makeup game as of late. Perhaps she knew what was coming, and was already planting the seeds for her future hair breakover or revenge beauty look. She might also want to take a leaf from these starlets who went through their own breakups and emerged looking better than ever. Or maybe she doesn't need our help at all. Here are our favourite looks of hers in the past 12 months.
WHEN SHE DID BOLD LINER AND GLITTER (TOGETHER)
Do you really have to choose which eye makeup trend you want to rock when you can layer one on top of another? Here a thick and defined cat's eye flick gets topped with a liberal dusting of silver sparkle for added oomph. This is a woman who's prepping for her moment in the spotlight — (and out of her husband's shadow).
WHEN SHE TOOK GLASS SKIN TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Dewan often thanks her hair and makeup teams for their hard work in ensuring that she looks top notch. This behind the scenes glimpse of super highlighted skin, falsies and contouring blusher might be OTT for real life but hey, it works on camera.
WHEN SHE SPORTED THESE JUICY BLACKBERRY LIPS
The perfect way to go deep, dark and dramatic without going too goth, we love the shade and the slightly glossy texture of her kissers at the Vanity Fair Oscars party this year. And her shiny, chocolate brown bob is another classy touch that sets her apart from a sea of wavy, blonde hair.
WHEN SHE SHIMMERED PERFECTLY
Her look at the American Music Awards in 2017 was a masterclass in strobing and highlighting. We love her chic, tousled waves and the fact that she's not afraid to play up her almost masculine features — think a super-angular jawline and bold brows.
WHEN SHE MADE US RETHINK MAGENTA EYESHADOW
A clever twist on the red eyeshadow trend that has been done to death, we love the way this unusual, hard-to-wear shade brings out her eyes without being too garish. If you can wear this hue on your eyes and look this kick-ass, kudos to you.
