1. Jeffree Star speaks up about the rumours surrounding his car crash.

The aforementioned incident occurred on 16 April, where the Rolls Royce that the beauty YouTuber was traveling in skidded against black ice and flipped three times. Both Star — and his good friend, Daniel Lucas — were hospitalised and later treated for their injuries. Star has since been back on social media, where he took to Twitter to recount the event that left him "in the most excruciating pain ever."

This quickly drew flak from certain members of the beauty community, who claimed that Star had staged or exaggerated the severity of his accident so as to publicise his latest product line inspired by cannabis. The impending launch date (20 April) only further cemented their theories. Star immediately took to Instagram to dispute this. "I don't know what would make someone write such a dumb horrible story, but that was one of the worst experiences of my life," he stated. "So let's take a little pause. I just don't get it."

2. YouTube has demonetized all of James Charles' videos.

Temporarily, it seems. The online video platform took action after Charles admitted to exchanging inappropriate messages with minors via TikTok. He has also been accused of "grooming" — the act of prepping underage fans for sexual activities. A representative from the company has also confirmed that Charles has been removed from the YouTube Partner Program — which, essentially, translates to all ads being removed from his videos. This means he won't be able to profit from his YT channel. His content will not be recommended to users either. And that's far from the only consequence from his actions, it seems...

3. Morphe drops James Charles amid his grooming scandal.

When it rains, it pours. The longtime partnership between the two has come to an end, with both parties releasing statements confirming that they have gone their separate ways. "In light of the recent allegations against James Charles, Morphe and James have agreed to end our business relationship and wind down sales of the Morphe x James Charles product offering," Morphe wrote. "It is and has always been Morphe's goal to create a positive, safe, and empowering space where all beauty lovers can freely share their artistry and passion for cosmetics, and Morphe is committed to furthering that goal."

4. Amazon will be opening their first-ever hair salon.

You read that right — it's an actual brick-and-mortar store based in London within the Spitalsfield area; a space helmed by Elena Lavagni and her team of stylists from Neville Hair & Beauty Salon. Its unique selling point lies in the bevy of Amazon Fire Tablets available, where users will be able to test out specific hair colours and styles using augmented reality technology. Neat. Customers will also be able to purchase products for their mane and opt to get it shipped home after. Brace yourselves to see it all in action "in the coming few weeks."

5. Lizzo shows off a new dye job.

One she did herself, we might add. The Truth Hurts singer has opted for a light brown hue, debuting it via Instagram where she styled it up in two puffs. It's a far cry from her usual polished and blown-out curls — though it seems that's precisely what she's going for. The photo's caption reads: "Hi. I felt helpless today. I changed my hair colour and did my makeup and made funny faces to make myself laugh," she wrote. "It's the least I could do. If you haven't done anything nice for yourself today this is your sign to find a light. Black girls, I love you. We deserve to be protected and loved."

6. Machine Gun Kelly will be launching a nail polish line.

Titled UN/DN, it touts itself as a unisex range that will drop in the coming few months. Done in collaboration with marketing brand incubator, Unlisted Brand Lab, the company has since stepped forward to express their gratitude for the opportunity to create a product that embodies "a cultural shift that has been a long time coming." Hear, hear. Watch this space for more updates.

7. Gucci Beauty introduces a new finish to their lipstick line.

Meet the Rouge De Beauté Brilliant; a game-changing formula that combines the hydrating properties of a balm with the intense pigment of a lipstick. Its precise blend comprising flower oils, fruit butters, and hyaluronic acid promises a well-nourished pout adorned with a coat of high-shine colour. Just what we ordered, alright. Choose between 15 hues when it hits shelves come May.
