Gigi Hadid denies rampant plastic surgery rumours, Nars does custom Animal Crossing fits, and other beauty news
1. Gigi Hadid speaks up on plastic surgery rumours... again.
Yup, we're still on this, apparently. It's come to the point where Hadid decided to tackle the gossip head-on during her Beauty Secrets video for Vogue. "When I look back on my first red carpets when I didn't have a makeup artist, I would obviously do my own makeup," she explained. "Now it's like, people pull up those pictures and are like, 'Oh, Gigi's nose looks different in these pictures than now.' Or, they'll talk about something with my face. Like, 'This has changed on Gigi.' It's really like, that's the power of makeup." She then went on to ascertain that she has never injected anything into her mien, though she is happy for everyone to do "whatever they want that makes them happy." Preach, sis.
2. A TikTok user goes viral after putting Gorilla Glue in her hair.
Brace yourselves, because this one is a real doozy. The user in question is Tessica Brown, who opted to put Gorilla Glue in her tresses after she ran out of her usual Got 2b Glued Blasted Freezing Spray. The adhesive is said to be "permanent, moisture-resistant, and heavy-duty." Yikes. A high bar, indeed — one the product is living up to seeing how Brown's hair is now permanently stuck in a ponytail. She has since washed it 15 times, but remains as stiff as ever. Plastic surgeons and hair experts have since stepped forward to offer their expertise so as to get Brown out of this bind. Fingers crossed she'll find a solution that, well, sticks.
3. Cardi B comes for haters who shame her makeup-free selfies.
The clapback queen took to Instagram with a pointed video last week. "Y'all take pictures or videos of me with no makeup while I'm in motion and be like, 'Oh, look at Cardi. She looks so weird without no makeup,'" she said. "This is me with no makeup, no filter. You could see all the, you know, the little blemishes on my face. Sh*t, you can see my lip's so chapped — I've been biting it all night. I just woke up 20 minutes ago. Didn't brush my hair. Like, I feel good." She later went on to criticise haters who are constantly trying to bring down successful women. "I'mma stay on top with this natural face, makeup or not," she finishes. "A b*tch is doing good." And, cue the mic drop.
4. Nars drops custom Animal Crossing: New Horizons fits.
This was done to celebrate the launch of their Claudette collection, which is inspired by Francois Nars' mother, Claudette Nars. This translates to various face-stamps and wallpapers that harbour the same star and butterfly motifs from the Claudette range, alongside a Nars-emblazoned hoodie. We're into it.
5. Katy Perry goes back to long, brunette locks.
Talk about a massive throwback. The songbird showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live looking as if she emerged straight out of her I Kissed A Girl era. Alas, she later revealed via Instagram Story that it was merely a wig — accompanied by a gleeful declaration that "everything is fake!" To think she really had us going there for a minute.
6. Morphe is now available for purchase on Asos.
This includes Morphe 2, the newly-launched sub-brand designed for Gen-Z folk that are new to the makeup game. It also means you'll now have another source to turn to should new releases and cult-favourites are sold out on the main site. Rejoice!
7. Victoria Beckham has launched her highly-anticipated mascara.
Named Future Lash, it has been garnering hype for its waterproof and strand-strengthening capabilities. That is, a nourishing C2 complex formula that promises to boost lash health with ingredients such as shea butter, panthenol, and niacinamide.
