Fenty Skin is coming soon, Kylie Jenner goes on a “hair health journey”, and other beauty news
1. Rihanna confirms that Fenty Skin is a reality — and will be coming our way sometime soon.
The range will supposedly "set a new standard in the category." Queen RiRi then expressed her excitement for the impending launch in an interview, stating, "Skincare, it's the truth. It either works or it doesn't. There's nowhere to hide." Hmm, could this be Fenty Skin's philosophy? Either way, we're readying our credit cards.
2. Kylie Jenner is giving her hair and nails a break.
By quitting hair, lash and nail extensions, that is. The beauty mogul took to Instagram to talk about her "hair health journey" recently, where she rocked her natural short, bronde (blonde + brown) 'do and shorter (read: extension-less) nails. Her best friend, Stassie Karanikolaou, then conducted an Instagram Live, confirming that both she and Jenner were "natural queens". And in other news related to all things quarantine and beauty...
3. Miley Cyrus shaves Cody Simpson's head.
Simpson debuted his buzzcut during an Instagram Live while discussing his upcoming poetry book, Prince Neptune. He later confirmed that Cyrus was the one who did the deed, before the singer herself made an appearance to confirm it. "I was mad about my own haircut so I had to give Cody a little makeover as well," Cyrus shared. Aw.
4. Rosalía cuts her own bangs.
Folks, do not attempt this at home. Or at least without proper guidance. But yes, much like JVN, Rosalía decided to try a new look during self-isolation. Thankfully, it turned out well — perhaps she'll be dropping the tutorial sometime soon?
5. M.A.C. Cosmetics Viva Glam 2020 campaign is focussed on providing COVID-19 emergency relief.
The brand's Viva Glam campaign has always been dedicated to helping the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS, but it seems they're pivoting in 2020 to give assistance to those affected by the coronavirus. Or, more specifically, vulnerable groups who are at higher risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. They aim to do so by donating US$10 million towards 250 local organisations by allocating funds that allow them to provide vital services including food delivery, medication support, and testing and treating diagnosed COVID-19 cases, especially among the immunocompromised.
6. Nail polish brand, CND, donates US$100,000 in financial grants to professional nail artists affected by COVID-19.
This is done in partnership with nonprofit organisation, Beauty Changes Lives, where financial relief is given to currently unemployed manicurists. The money will be split among 100 applicants over the course of May, June, and July this year. To qualify, participants have to be licensed nail professionals for at least a full year as of 16 March 2020. They also have to be currently living in a state or county that has forced nonessential businesses to close. All the deets are available on beautychangeslives.org.
7. Essie remakes their cult-classic nail polishes.
Think Ballet Slipper, Wicked, and Ladylike. These fan-favourite hues are getting a makeover in terms of both packaging and formulation, with Ballet Slipper 2.0 named Ballet Sneakers. It sports a more matte finish, and (aptly) features several pairs of kicks on the bottle. Wicked, on the other hand, is now called Wicked Fierce and comes with a chrome finish.
8. Milk Makeup drops a skincare line that works on your complexion while you sleep.
Skincare that does the work while you snooze? Milk Makeup is all for it, apparently. The label has dropped a Melatonin range comprising a Serum and Overnight Lip Mask, both of which work overnight to replenish, calm, and soothe. Sounds promising, alright.
