Dior's iconic Backstage Airflash foundation is back with a bang
With new extensions and five additional shades, this spray foundation from Dior — that sells a bottle every three minutes — is here to stay

Some beauty products become cult favourites that are revered by fans. And while there is always the temptation (and demand) to not change the formula, we have to admit that often upgrades are needed to change with the times. One such product? Dior's Backstage Airflash Foundation, a revolutionary spray on foundation that literally imbues skin with flawlessness. This foundation, first used backstage by makeup artists is so popular that one bottle is sold every three minutes. The secret is in the application — you have to spray from just the right angle in a Z-formation on the face — and the water-resistant formula, that feels like a second skin while allowing pigments to adhere seamlessly to the face. Seriously, it's gives the perfect, airbrushed finish for those who know how to use it.

Dior Backstage Airflash Radiance Mist, Buffing Brush and Spray Foundation

Now, Dior's creative and image director for makeup Peter Philips, has created additional shades and products to help perfect the skin for a runway-worthy effect. First up, there are now five new shades that are better matched to Asian complexions. Shades 100 to 500, run the gamut from warm to cool shades, meaning those with in between colours now have closer matches. The bottles have also been repackaged to reflect the hue they represent — making shade selection an easier and quicker process. Also, a new Radiance Mist has been thrown into the mix. This primer and setting spray can be applied pre-foundation to soften skin, and also after application, to 'set' the makeup with a non-sticky finish. The brand also now has a buffing brush that is ideal for pairing with the foundation. Simply spray on a fine mist of foundation on the brush and work into the face, starting from the centre, and moving outwards in circular movements. The brush is also great for those who are not confident or skilled enough to spray this high-performance foundation straight from the can.

From $80 to $92. Available from 1 June at all Dior counters and stores
