The power of makeup

Text: Angelyn Kwek

Behold the power of makeup as beauty and charity crossover with gorgeous products from your favourite cult brands

We love ourselves a good play on words, and 'cause-metics' is a new one we're going to be tossing around, thanks to Chantecaille's new fall lipstick launch. Presenting an all-new range that's permanently joining the brand's offerings, the Lip Veil collection is a weightless, revolutionary formula that goes on super pigmented in one glide. But more than packing hydration, nourishment, and long-lasting colour into a tube, this is a lippie that champions a bigger cause than giving you a killer pout: It was created exclusively to support a conservation project dear to founder Sylvie Chantecaille, the Space For Giants programme that is committed to protecting the migratory paths of elephants in Africa.

The proceeds from the twelve African flora-inspired shades — although Singapore is only stocking eight as of right now — will go on to support the organisation's efforts to enforce legal policy on poaching to create an Africa that will no longer limit the borders for conservation.

And that there is the transformative power of beauty, with many more brands getting on with the philanthropy programme; another recent launch being Fenty Beauty's Diamond Ball-Out highlighter. The metallic silver to Trophy Wife's shimmering gold, this edition of Killawatt is so amazingly dense, you can dust it on your eyelids and build up the coverage to you'd expect from the most pigmented eyeshadows.

It even comes pressed with the motif of the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), which is a non-profit founded by Rihanna in honour of her grandparents. Dedicated to helping education, health, and emergency response programmes around the world, the Fenty Beauty tie-up with the organisation will see 100 per cent of Diamond Ball-Out's sale impacting change for 7,500 girls in Malawi in partnership withThe Campaign for Female Education project, as well as contributing supplies and health resources to survivors of natural disasters. Giving back has never looked so good.

Chantecaille is available at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Fenty Beauty is available at Sephora and Sephora online.
