People are destroying their Dior beauty products in response to Bella Hadid’s alleged racism, and other beauty news this week
1. People are destroying their Dior beauty products in response to Bella Hadid's offensive Instagram story.
The model came under fire from the Arab community after she posted a photo of her foot propped up against a window with planes from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates visible in the background. This was deemed offensive as showing the sole of your shoe in Arab culture is associated with the ground and, hence, is seen as a sign of disrespect. This prompted people to destroy their Dior beauty products due to their association with the model (Hadid is the face of their latest campaign). She has since come forward with an apology, explaining that it was an "honest mistake".
2. Zendaya debuts fiery new locks at the Spider-Man: Far From Home press tour.
The hair change caused rumours about her involvement in the upcoming Little Mermaid movie to swirl, though the star attributed her radical new look to Mary-Jane Watson, the original love interest of Peter Parker in the comics and previous Spider-Man films. Speaking of redheads...
3. Rihanna hits the streets in burgundy box braids.
Bad gal RiRi's box braids made their first appearance in May to uproarious fanfare — so of course she had to one-up herself and don 'em in burgundy for the Fenty x Webster pop-up. The Internet is, naturally, at a loss as to which she rocks better: wine-red box braids or that hot pink lip.
4. RE:ERTH partners with Kai and Nodspark to launch a limited-edition travel kit.
The kit will comprise a Koi fish pouch designed by accessory label, Kai, an exclusive nail wrap set from Nodspark, as well as new skincare minis by RE:ERTH. No word yet on its official release date, though we suspect that it will be soon.
5. KKW Beauty announces a collaboration with supermodel, Winnie Harlow.
The news broke during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians earlier this week, where viewers witnessed both Kim and Winnie lying on sand dunes during their joint photoshoot. The pair is staying mum on what the collection will entail, but word on the street is that we'll soon be treated to bronzers, highlighters, and jewel-toned eyeshadows.
6. Clean skincare label, Naturally Serious, arrives in Singapore.
7. Benefit welcomes a new foundation and powder to their Hello Happy range.
Meet the Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation and Velvet Powder Foundation, both of which are destined for long-lasting, high-coverage wear. Opt for the former if you prefer a dewy, lit-from-within glow, and the latter if a natural-matte finish is more your tune.
8. Renowned French aesthetic spa, Estheclinic, opens a new branch in Holland Village.
The brand's comprehensive menu of award-winning treatments will be available at the new outlet, where new customers stand a chance to win vouchers worth $300. The promotion ends 15 July, so make your way down if you'd like to be one of the lucky few.
9. Estée Lauder will be dropping specially-curated beauty bundles for one day only.
This 24-hour only event will take place 27 June on LazMall. Customers will be able to pick between five beauty bundles containing star Estée Lauder products, the likes of which include Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II, the Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation, and more. Festivities commence at the stroke of midnight — because who needs sleep when there's a sale going on, right?
