Lewis Hamilton puts his exotic good looks to good use as the face of the skincare giant's men's line

Lewis Hamilton may be best know for his prowess on the racing track, but the powers that be have stood up and taken notice of his photogenic mug – the biracial Brit is certainly a face representative of the modern man... tattoos, neatly trimmed goatee, trendy clothes and all. Recently christened the face of L'Oréal Men Expert along with American model Lucky Blue Smith, here's what Hamilton had to say about being the face of a skincare line, his many F1 championship victories and who he looks up to.

What does it mean to be a L'Oréal Men Expert spokesperson?
It's a new, different challenge in my life. I'm very proud to represent a brand that I grew up with and that so many guys all around the world use.

A lot of people see you as an alpha male. Do you know why?
Really? I don't know [laughs]. I guess because I'm usually out in front.

What three words define L'Oréal Men Expert products?
Let's say four words: powerful, energetic and highly efficient.

What are your favourite Men Expert products?
If I had to choose two, I would say Hydra Energetic shower gel — it gives you this extra-energetic, almost explosive sensation when you use it. For my skin, my favourite one is the Hydra Energetic Serum, it's the champion of hydration!

What is your must-have grooming gadget?
I always carry a beard trimmer.

How many tattoos do you have and which is your favourite?
I have 11. [I like] the eagle on my neck. My friends call me eagle eye because I always see the smallest details.

What do you do to take care of them? Do you moisturise them?
I use L'Oréal's tattoo revive product.

What is the most challenging part of your life?
Raising the bar each year, and finding time when there is seemingly no time to find. You just have to keep pushing.

How did you feel when you matched the performance of your childhood hero Ayrton Senna?
It was unbelievable. It was one of the biggest moment of my life... I'll never forget it.

What are you most proud of?
Three Formula One World Championships.

Who do you most admire?
Nelson Mandela

Who or what influences your unique style?
I admire the creativity of all the top fashion houses and designers. I really enjoy witnessing their new ideas and inspirations. I think Pharell [Williams] is an iconic influence.

What three places should we visit in Great Britain?
Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Windsor Castle.
