How to get Anya Taylor-Joy's bold and flirty makeup look from the 26th Critics' Choice Awards using Dior makeup
In case you didn't hear: Queen's Gambit lead, Anya Taylor-Joy, added another award to her collection during the 26th Critics' Choice Awards. Yes, this comes just one week after she scored a win at the Golden Globes; digital celebrations where Taylor-Joy graced our screens in swathes of couture, flashing us glimpses of her her striking mien adorned in expertly-applied makeup via Zoom. Or so we thought. It seems no glam squad was put into employ, with the 24-year-old actress and model handling her own face paint for the day.
"For Anya's makeup design for the Critics' Choice Awards we decided on a beautifully simple, chic look," said long-time makeup artist, Georgie Eisdell. "Anya did her own makeup so I wanted to design a look that was easy for her to do herself It was a more structured look to offset the gorgeous and whimsical Dior gown." Now, that's a twist we didn't see coming — a reassuring one, at that, seeing how this means that even us novices might just be able to ace this bold, flirty look. We got Eisdell to dish the dirt, below.
The flawless, glowing skin
Taylor-Joy used the Dior Forever Skin Glow in shade #0N to even out her skin tone. This was followed by liberal amounts of the Dior Forever Skin Correct to brighten up her undereyes. Next, the Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder No-Powder was dusted upon her cheekbones, forehead, and jawline so as to lightly contour and shape her face. The final step involved the Dior Rouge Blush in shade #250 BAL. Taylor-Joy tapped it on the apples of her cheeks lightly with a powder brush before blending it all out.
The minimalistic — yet mesmerizing — eyeshadow
The palette in question: Dior's #649 Nude Dress. "We used the lower left shade and dusted it lightly on the lid and up into the crease," Georgie said. This was done to ensure a subtle, light wash of colour to illuminate the peepers. This was followed by the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl, which Taylor-Joy ran through her top lashes. And as a finishing touch: the Diorshow Brow Styler was used to fill Taylor-Joy's arches.
The bold fuschia lips
Lastly, for the statement-making pout, the Dior Contour in #943 Euphoric Liner was first used to line her pout. She topped it off with the Rouge Dior Lip Colour in shade #975 Opera to achieve a "beautiful deep pink".
