Get the look: How to score the strong graphic eye look from the Chanel 2020/21 Métiers d’art Collection

Paint it black

No more glossy pouts, no more rosy cheeks, and definitely no more blush-dusted noses. Pandemic-fashion has demanded that the grand focus of the past year's beauty look be on the upper half of our mien: the eyes. Be it a thick, striking bold liner look or a Euphoria-inspired sequined color chaos on our lids, 2020 has seen a creative frenzy of eye makeup, borne out of a necessity, yet not necessarily a pity. At least, not after we've seen the arresting looks from none other than Chanel's "Le Chateau Des Dames", the fashion label's debut of their 2020/21 Métiers d'Art Collection.

In the full spirit of Coco Chanel's original sources of inspiration, both the collection and the look is meant to embody the essence of the Renaissance harbouring a new, almost futuristic definition. The brilliant brains behind every beauty look of the famed fashion house herself, Lucia Pica, emphasises how the collection 'is a very modern interpretation of strong women owning their power' and that 'the makeup is graphic and strong' to convey this very sentiment. But just how does one achieve this acclaimed makeup artist's bold beauty look? The beauty heavens must be with us today, as we get into what the artist uses for the creative look, below.

Get the black, graphic eyes with... the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof (88 Noir Intense) and Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect Quadra Eyeshadow (334 Modern Glamour)

Pica creates a feminine-rock feel by fully lining the eyes with the Stylo Yeux Waterproof in 88 Noir Intense. "The look emphasizes black and matte on the eyes", she states, whereupon she uses the Les 4 Ombres to draw a wide arch on the lids to exaggere the eyes into a bigger, wider shape.

Get the glowing, velvet complexion with Chanel Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear Compact Foundation and Le Correcteur De Chanel Longwear Concealer

For a natural flawless finish, apply the liquid foundation with the fingertips, blending out from the centre of the face. Dust everything over with the Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder to mattify the skin and give the complexion a sheer finish. The Le Correcteur De Chanel Longwear Concealer is then applied for a blurring effect, while the Éclat Lumiére Highlighter Face Pen adds an instant dash of radiance to the visage.

Get the clear shiny lips with Chanel Le Crayon Lévres Longwear Lip Pencil (162 Nude Brun) and Chanel Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick (Transparent)

Keep it simple when it comes to the lips with a nude palette. The eye makeup acts as a stark contrast to the clear glossy lip that's achieved with the transparent Chanel Baume Essentiel Glow Stick.
