Get the look: How to achieve the unique, playful looks from the Gucci Epilogue Collection
Digitally dolled up
Major fashion houses have always kept us on our toes for their revolutionary runway looks. This year, the creators become the performers in Gucci's Epilogue show, giving you unique looks that defy traditional forms of fashion and beauty. The final chapter of this "trilogy of love" took place over a 12-hour livestream that was filmed in Rome, Italy. As its name suggests, creative director Alesssandro Michele celebrates the end of an era by showcasing the rebirth of unconventional perspectives in fashion and beauty, delivering an original take on makeup as a mode of self-expression. The looks — modelled by the Gucci design office team instead of the models — were created using a combination of great Gucci Beauty products and were put together by none other than Gucci's Global Makeup Artist, Thomas de Kluyver. The makeup maestro details his process, products, and perspective, below.
Skip the mascara, we dare you.
According to Kluyver, LOOK 31E is a clean, ultra-matte look with a deep, vampy lip. It combines the velvety full coverage of Rouge a Lévres Mat lipstick in the shade 605 Vienna Amaranth with the ultra-light and moisturising Rouge à Lèvres Satin lipstick in shade 700 Crystal Black. The eyebrows are defined by the smoothing and mattifying pressed powder in Gucci Beauty's Crayon Définition Sourcils eyebrow Pencil shade 04 that complements the natural complexion together with Poudre de Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder shade. This mascara-less look accentuates the lips without making it seem like there's too many things to focus on.
A bare-faced beat
LOOK 36E, on the other hand, was created primarily using the smoothing Poudre de Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder shade 01. The Éclat De Beauté Effet Lumière Face Gloss was then utilised to create light and depth on the lids, and the Baume à Lèvres lip balm shade 01'Joslyn Clair slicked on. Eyes are then further defined with the Crayon Définition Sourcils Eyebrow Pencil in shade 01. Hey, who says your bare-faced beauty look can't have a little glow?
Bright and bold
LOOK 49E centers on the bold Rouge a Lévres Mat Lipstick in Alessandro Michele's favourite shade, 25 Goldie Red. A smooth complexion is then achieved with the lightweight Poudre de Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder shade 03, while the Crayon Définition Sourcils eyebrow pencil shade 03 was blended in effortlessly for a polished finish.
LOOK 51E presents a bold eye look created using vertical strokes of the buildable Gucci MascaraL'Obscur. Its uniquely shaped brush is then combined with Crayon Définition Sourcils Eyebrow Pencil in shade 01 and followed by the Éclat De Beauté Effet Lumière High-Shine Multi-Use Gel. A natural, soft lip is created using Baume àLèvres lip balm shade 01 'Joslyn Clair.' Poudre de Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder shade 00 delivers an even finish to this bare-faced look. Anyone else feeling the seriously '80s vibes?
A sweet pop of colour
LOOK 54E boasts a natural, luminous complexion courtesy of the lightweight Poudre de Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder in shade 01. The eyebrows, on the other hand, are given a subtle lift with the Crayon Définition Sourcils Eyebrow Pencil in shade 04. The lips make a statement thanks to its unexpected bright shade created by the velvety Rouge a Lévres Mat Lipstick in the hue 302 Agatha Orange.
Back to black
LOOK 59E is a sophisticated, simple nail. Junayd wears Gucci Beauty Vernis À Ongles nail polish shade 700 Crystal Black, from a capsule collection of five vibrant colours lending a bold and shiny finish to nails.
